According to the some rumors, new 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser will be presented at the next 2016 Chicago AS. Land Cruiser has one of the oldest designs among luxury SUV’s. With precious few changes since 2007, Toyota’s most expensive ute is starting to show its age. Another set of precious few details can be found in future Land Cruiser’s news. This makes us believe that 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser will be carried over yet again.
2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Engine
Such a massive vehicle doesn’t have the luxury to offer downsized engines. 5.7L V8 mill develops 381 horsepower and 401 pound feet of torque which is enough for the SUV to tow up to 8,200 pounds. 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser doesn’t offer many compromises in other aspects as well since it comes only with 6-speed automatic gearbox and full-time all-wheel drive.
Even though it features a curb weight of almost 6,000 pounds, SUV has a touch for both roads, and especially back roads. It never lost its off-road capabilities which were its most important aspect more than 60 years ago when it started its career.
Styling – Inside and Outside look
This is still a true SUV, even though the car itself is as luxurious as they come. Boxy, muscular frame speaks volumes about it. From it, you can figure its low fuel efficiency, high safety scores, somewhat sluggish driving feel and plenty more. Frontal fascia features a heavy chromed stripe grille and angular headlamps. In fact, there’s plenty of chrome and angular details all over it.
Rear end has upright roof pillars which don’t impede rearward visibility that much, but still don’t exactly help as well. Finally, large tailgate gives you the ability to load pretty much anything in it.
Land Cruiser’s interior offers pretty much what everyone would expect; plenty of space and luxury equipment. Only leather seats will touch your body if you decide to get yourself one of these. Heated and ventilated front seats are standard from the get-go, and so are heated rear seats. Large dashboard and huge instrument panel are at their best in two-tone color arrangements with mahogany wood veneers. Massive control panel requires corresponding central display too, and that’s why 8-inch unit has been chosen for the job.
With it come HDD navigation, 14 JBL speakers and every other tech feature one could imagine. Four-zone automatic front and rear climate control with air filter, and dust and pollen filtration mode is also included, together with standard rear seat DVD entertainment system with 9-inch display. There’s no need to mention that safety features are also above par. 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser offers 10 standard airbags, pre-collision system, parking sensors and a rearview camera.
2016 Toyota Land Cruiser Price and MPG
Fuel economy ratings are Land Cruiser’s weakest link. Rated only at 13 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway, large SUV will force you to stop for refills regularly even though it features a large, 24.6-gallon gas tank. Second biggest flaw is its price tag. You won’t be able to buy it for less than $80,000 which is the price you have to pay for all those standard features that come with it.
2016 Toyota Land Cruiser still goes strong, even though it carries on almost decade-old design. For now, things look good, but Japanese will have to change something sooner, rather than later as its fuel efficiency (or inefficiency thereof) isn’t really sustainable.
