The new 2016 Renault Megane will be available in showrooms next year. The current Megane has been around since 2008 so many people expected Renault to release at least an update to this model at the Frankfurt Auto Show.
However, Renault managed to surprise a lot of people when they released the all new 2016 Renault Megane, a car which has pretty much nothing in common with the older model. These are great news because it finally gives Renault a fighting chance in the compact car market and it gives their customers an alternative tot he already old looking Golf. The new Megane is based on their new Common Module Family, or CMF, which it now shares with more upmarket cars.
2016 Renault Megane Design and Chagnes
This should allow Renault to give their compact entry a lot of high end features and even better engines than before. The car is now between 40 and 47mm wider than the previous model as well as nearly 20mm lower, so it looks a lot sportier than before. On top of that, the design has been completely changed for something a lot more attractive while its engines are a combination of updated old units and all new ones that should be quite impressive for its class.
The design of the 2016 Renault Megane is probably the most interesting aspect about it. The car has nothing in common with the older model and this is great because it means it is something fresh on the market. The front end has a similar style to that of the Talisman model but with more aggressive headlights and new C-shaped LED daytime running lights which extend from the top of the headlights all the way down to the bumper.
The lower air intake looks quite aggressive while the stance of the car is certainly sportier than before. The back features the tail lights which extend all the way up to the Renault logo and the hatch-door is now more similar to that of a coupe even on the four-door versions.
The cabin will come with a lot of extras which are not available on any of its competitors. The higher end models will receive things such as a 7 inch fully digital instrument cluster which will be customizable, an 8.7 inch portrait LCD screen in the center console which is going to act as the center of the car’s functions as well as a full color head-up display, a unique feature in Europe.

The Engine & Performance
Under its hood there are going to be quite a few engines available. The cheaper model of the 2016 Renault Megane is going to feature a 0.9 liter turbocharged inline 3 petrol engine with 90 horsepower while higher up the ranks, a 1.2 liter turbo inline 4 with 120 or 150 horsepower as well as a bigger 1.6 liter turbo inline 4 with 205 horsepower are going to be available. There are also going to be two different diesel offerings, an 110 horsepower 1.5 liter inline 4 as well as a 130 horsepower 1.6 liter inline 4. All of these will come as standard with front wheel drive and a 6 speed manual while some of them will also get a dual clutch automatic.
Some models will also get four wheel steering, a unique feature in its class, while some people also suggested that a four wheel drive system is a possibility. The top of the range model will likely stick with a 2 liter turbocharged inline 4 which could develop as much as 300 horsepower.
2016 Renault Megane Release date and Price
The car will not go on sale until the start of 2016 but when it will hit the market, many said that the price should increase by around 5% over that of the previous model. This is because the car will also offer a lot more than many people expected it to.
The biggest opponent is new 2015 Ford Focus.
