One more Lexus car, new 2016 Lexus TX. When looking upon Lexus’ SUV/crossover lineup. One will easily see that it lacks a three-row crossover. Toyota’s luxury division does offer couple of three-row SUV’s, but these are all body-on-frame SUV’s which cost much, weigh much and consume much. 2016 Lexus TX should rectify all this. New, mid-size crossover should have a unibody structure and all the advantages that go with it. It will be lighter, more nimble and more family-friendly.
Under the Hood
Now, Toyota, as a matron company, already has something that fits this story. We are talking about Highlander, of course. By looking at it, one could get a blurry picture in his mind about how new TX could look like and what kind of powertrain it could offer. 3.5L V6 unit seems as adequate option to start with and we don’t expect Lexus to look further than that. Future might conjure up some hybrid models as well, but that’s a story for another time.
Design – Inside and Outside look
If design is what you’re wondering about, you don’t have to look past Lexus’ own RX 350 crossover. Of course, designers won’t just copy-paste 2016 Lexus TX from it, but that’s pretty much what it should look like. Frontal fascia with spindle grille and angular headlights will most likely be slightly larger than in compact RX, and so should most of other parts. Rear end could get thicker pillars which is usually the case in larger crossovers, while tailgate should be large enough to allow you to load the cargo with ease.
People generally know what to expect from Lexus when interior refinement comes to mind. That’s why those who require upclass luxury, usually go for it. 2016 Lexus TX won’t come short in terms of both luxury and premium features, that much is certain. It should also offer plenty of room, but might not be the class-leader in this segment. Lexus’ vehicles are currently quite exciting in terms of available features.
Apart from touch screen display, heated and ventilated seats, and advanced air conditioning, they mostly offer Lexus Enform system which ties all connectivity options together. Navigation, Bluetooth, 4G LTE internet connection and HD radio can all be expected, at least as options if not standard. Most of advanced electronic safety systems should be present as well. Adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot monitors and cross-traffic alerts should all be here.
2016 Lexus TX Price & Release date
TX’s fuel economy ratings depend upon its powertrain unit. However, fuel-efficiency is one of the main reasons why Lexus is building the mid-sizer, so expect them to dig deep and deliver satisfying figures. Price tag for a new crossover should settle somewhere in the region between $50,000 and $60,000, but these won’t be exact figures.
2016 Lexus TX is supposed to complete the SUV/crossover lineup of Japanese luxury automaker. This three-row vehicle should offer contemporary design which, in turn allows better figures in plenty of categories. However, the biggest reason for its introduction is actually its third row of seats. This means that Lexus plans to target well-standing families which could put TX’s abilities to a good use.
