2016 Ford Focus RS Forza Motorsport Edition – Review

One more unique supercar coming, the new 2016 Ford Focus RS Forza Motorsport Edition. Just as we all know, the Focus RS has been missing from the International market for quite some time and in order to solve that, Ford released the all new car back in January 2015 as an all new model.

However, they decided that they will start shipping the new RS only starting with the mid of 2016 in order to give them time to further refine the design and make it one of the best, if not the best, hot hatch on the market to date. In order to further increase the appeal of the car and make it one of the most well known cars in the World, Ford decided to release a special edition of it which they will use as a marketing stunt.

Design – Inside and Outside look

So, what is so special about the Forza Motorsport Edition? Well, for starters, the car has a unique exterior paint scheme which has been designed by players from the Forza game. The actual body-kit of the car is no different from that of the production model but the design comes with all white wheels, a special blue paint with a racing livery on it which features the Ford GT car as well as stickers with the sponsors of the game such as IGN, Turn 10 and others which make it seem more like a rally car than a road car.

Inside look – Cabin

The interior of the car on the other hand is pretty much identical to that of the production model meaning that Ford decided that it is best to keep it unchanged. The car comes with the same Recaro seats as the production model, the usual Ford Sync 3 infotainment system as well as with a fully digital dashboard and a very nice leather wrapped steering wheel.

Special performance and Specs

Engine wise, the 2016 Ford Focus RS Forza Motorsport Edition remained unchanged from the production vehicle so it features the same Mustang sourced 2.3 liter turbocharged inline 4 EcoBoost engine which is quite a capable unit. This can provide up to 345 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque and it can also offer an Overboost function which will further up the torque to as much as 347 lb-ft of it for 15 seconds at a time.

Unlike many other current hot hatchbacks, Ford decided that they want to make the RS the perfect driver’s car not just a perfect car on paper, so they decided to outfit it with a 6 speed manual gearbox which has been reviewed as one of the best out there.

This sends the power of the engine to a four wheel drive system which can send up to 70% of the torque to the back and up to 100% of this torque to any given wheel. This torque vectoring system is one of the most complex ones out there and it is said to make the RS one of the fastest hatchbacks on the market. Early performance figures suggest 0 to 60 MPH time of just 4 seconds and a top speed of over 170 MPH.

2016 Ford Focus RS Forza Motorsport Edition Price

This is the 2016 Ford Focus RS Forza Motorsport Edition, a unique prototype which has been first released at the Geneva Auto Show and it is meant to show that Ford means business with this car. The special edition model is not available for sale and it will never be.

However, the actual Focus RS is expected to hit the market for around $35,000 or a bit more which is a fair price considering it will be able to outrun pretty much all the other cars in its class. The drawback is that Ford will not deliver the car until 2016 and many expect that when it will be launched, the RS will only be available in a limited supply.
