The 2016 Chevrolet Impala is going to be a facelift of that model which will include a slightly different styling, improved engines as well as a couple of new models which are going to make it a bit more appealing for its customers.
The Impala is probably one of the oldest names in the car industry today, being a car made since the early 1950s when it was one of the top selling full size sedans. This is no longer the case mainly because the current car is much smaller than before and it is not competing for the title of one of the best medium size sedans in the US. The tenth generation has been launched in the late 2013 as a 2014 model and it is still being produced.
Under the Hood
Engine wise, the Impala is going to feature four different engines. The base car comes with an already proven 2.5 liter inline 4 which can provide up to 195 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque but unlike the previous generation, it fuel consumption improved a bit to around 27 MPG on average. The performance levels for this particular engine are good and thanks to the great 6 speed automatic, it will be able to get the car from 0 to 60 in under 8 seconds and up to a maximum top speed of over 130 MPH.
The second engine in the range is also the most fuel efficient of them all. The 2.4 liter inline 4 with eAssist will provide with ease more than 30 MPG while offering up to 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. This engine features a similar gearbox to the others but it is only available with front wheel drive.
The most powerful engine available in the standard car will be the 3.6 liter LFX with up to 305 horsepower and 264 lb-ft of torque. This engine will be making this amount of power while using around 25 MPG which is not that bad considering the driving sensation it gives. The bad side is that it uses the same exact gearbox as the base engine so it feels quite odd especially when you get the car to its limit.
The most powerful engine in the range however will be coming in the SS version. This will use a four wheel drive system and a new 6 speed automatic with a Sport mode. The engine is a 6.2 liter aspirated V8 with 420 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque which will be making for the most powerful Impala ever produced.
Styling – Interior and Exterior
On the interior, the 2016 Chevrolet Impala will receive a couple of new features. Firstly, the old 4.2 inch screen will be replaced by a bigger 7 inch screen which will also act as the navigation system. It will also receive LTE connectivity for all the models unlike the previous car which only offered it in the top trim ones. The biggest update though is going to be the new Pandora Radio with Satellite Radio and the 14 speaker setup.
Its exterior on the other hand will remain unchanged. There will be the same sets of wheels and design choices as before with the exception of the SS which will get new front and rear bumpers, a new exhaust system and a new set of 20 inch unique rims.
2016 Chevrolet Impala Price
The price will remain unchanged, so expect to pay around 30.000 dollars for a base model and up to 50.000 dollars for a top of the range one which also includes one of the better engines in its class. The release date has been set to be at the end of 2015 in order to coincide with the releases of a few other cars from Chevy.
