Nissan Pathfinder is one of the most popular Nissan vehicles. As with previous models, 2015 Nissan Pathfinder will be one of the best and most sold items. Like most of other body on frame SUVs, it went to some big changes during last decade and changes its configuration to a uni-body crossover SUV. It is the main rival of Toyota 4Runner and their rivalry lasts for ages now.
In Nissan line-up it is slotted between Nissan Murano and Nissan Armada or Patrol, but if you count by the price it comes between XTerra and Murano. First model came in 1985, and back then it was a two door SUV, which took lot components from legendary Nissan Hardbody truck. Since then Pathfinder went through 4 generations, with the fourth generation vehicle being introduced for the 2012 model year.
Styling – Interior and Exterior
Although Pathfinder went from body-on-frame to uni-body construction, it doesn’t stop it from becoming larger and getting third raw of seats. This made it become a real family crossover SUV. Most of the exterior updates on this vehicle went also in that direction. It has some smooth lines, but Nissan designers didn’t put fancy in front of functional. It comes with numerous lines, curves and accents that makes it look more like a regular car than the rugged SUV, like it used to be just few years earlier.
Interior is quite spacious, as we mentioned earlier new model is a third row, seven seater and it also comes with a large cargo space, roomy enough to fit 7 suitcases without problem. Another good thing that happened to Pathfinder’s interior is the installment of much better soundproof and vibration traction that makes it quiet and unbelievably comfortable. First row seats are comfortable and supportive. Second row is a disappointment when it comes to comfort but it comes with one new interesting feature, it can be folded, with child seat staying in the middle by itself, so other third row passengers can enjoy some additional space. Third row seat is van like, so don’t expect too much comfort.
The Engine range
Pathfinder comes with two powertrains, base version comes with V6, while the other option is more efficient hybrid. Problem with the hybrid is it’s not able to work on electric power only. This powertrain comes with combination of 2,5 liter four cylinder engine and 15 kilowatt electric engine that can produce 22 horsepower. Combined output of these to engines is 250 horsepower. Base V6 engine is only 10 horsepower stronger, so it produces 260 horsepower and 240 pound feet of torque, which is average for engines with 3, 6 liter capacity.
2015 Nissan Pathfinder Price and Launch date
Base version of Nissan Pathfinder can be bought for $29,210 which is little bit above average for its class, but it still is one of the most popular Nissan crossovers at the moment. This model will be available in fall 2014.
