2015 Buick Regal – Transmission and drivetrain

The 2015 Buick Regal is somewhat of a new addition to the US market even though this model has been sold outside the US for quite some time and it have had enough time to grow into a well sorted car. The engine choices are great and powerful enough for someone’s daily needs.

The interior quality is above the average and considering the base price of the car starts somewhere around the 23.000$. The 2015 model will be available in showrooms at the start of this summer.

2015 Buick Regal Engine

There are basically two options when considering the engine. You either get the turbocharged two liter unit that can put out around 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque or the hybrid powertrain that develops 182 horsepower from a petrol engine/electric motor combo. The turbocharged unit is available either on the Turbo model or the GS. The hybrid version comes with its own version that is very similar equipment wise to the more powerful GS.

Transmission and drivetrain

You will have the chance to choose either front wheel drive or four wheel drive, no matter what transmission you choose. The petrol engine will be available with either a 6 speed manual transmission or a 6 speed automatic unit. Buick hasn’t said much on the hybrid but we can expect a CVT unit in place of the normal automatic.
Fuel economy is good for the petrol engine being able to return around 25 MPG in the city and as much as 36 MPG on the highway. The hybrid will surely be much more frugal, especially when it comes to city driving.

2015 Buick Regal Design – Interior and Exterior

The interior quality is actually pretty good. There is enough equipment inside to make everyone happy and the comfort is great too. As standard the car will feature satellite navigation and premium audio system with a 10 speaker setup, a second LCD in the instrument cluster for information about the trip and of course, leather upholstery with ventilated front seats. A moon-roof is an optional extra, but it is well worth the money considering how big it is.

The car is basically an Opel Insignia, but with different styling. It comes with a newer chrome grille, different set of headlights and LED tail lights. The car also features as standard 17 inch alloy wheels with the possibility of getting 18 or even 19 inch rims. The difference of the Turbo model over the GS is the body kit that comes with the Turbo, body kit that is slightly more aggressive, giving the car a meaner look.
